Our blog is being "shot" award
Our blog received the "Shot" award. The meaning of this award is that this blog is worthy of being photographed. Thank you to Sedona that has passed it to us *wiggles*
The rules for this award are:
Post the badge on your blog and link to who gave it to you. Choose five life situations that could be repeated in slow motion and explain why. Tag a dozen blogs and let them know it.
The five life situations we would choose to repeat are...
1. Climb up the stairs every mornings when we hear Selby comes out from her bedroom, in order to greet her.
2. Follow Selby around the house, even to the bathroom and wait nicely for her inside there.
3. Chew anything that's on the floor, our favorite are sandals and also underwears that we stole it from the bathroom.
4. Chase those moving little creatures i.e: Adele likes to chase lizards and mice; Vincent and Bella like to chase crockroaches.
5. Nap on Selby's lap while she watches TV.
We would love to pass this "Shot" award to:
1. Khyra's Khorner
2. All about Bruschi
3. Honey the Great Dane
4. I am Matilda
5. Mango the Maltese kiddo
6. Czarina's Corner
7. Frankie the Dachshund
8. NW Ridgeback
9. Ludo Doggy
10. Rubby & Penny
11. Ginger Jasper
12. Mr. Tuck's Neighborhood

Hi Adele, Vincent & Bella,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment about my clicker training post!
The clicker is for telling you when you are being GOOD so it is not used for telling you that you are being BAD. But it can still help to change your behaviour by marking the correct GOOD thing you should be doing (and rewarding you for that) so that next time, you will think to yourself: "Hmm....if I chew the shoes, I get yelled at but if I lie quietly, I get a CLICK & yummies...yes, I will lie quietly!".
If your humans want to tell you that they are not happy with you, they have to choose 1 word or sound and stick with it - eg, "NO!". Yes, you are right - if they just scream in a very high-pitched way, you might think they are excited and even maybe happy! Maybe they are cheering you on! High pitched voices are used to tell dogs that they are good.
When dogs want to tell each other off, they give a deep growl - so if you are being naughty, your humans should tell you "NO" in a deep, low, growly voice - and then (VERY IMPORTANT)- as soon as you pause and stop the bad behaviour (eg. stop chewing) - they must immediately change their voice to high, squeaky one and say "Good dog!" This means when you are in the act of chewing, you hear the deep, growly "NO!" and when you are in the act of 'stopping', you hear the high, squeaky "Good dog!" - It is this difference that helps you to understand what is right adn wrong. The reason many dogs keep doing naughty things is because they only get told off but they never get praised for the right thing. So they only know "this is wrong" but no one shows them "this is the right thing to do!" That is why your humans must always use a squeaky high voice when you are doing a good thing.
Don't wait until you are naughty to give you attention (this is why many pups are naughty - to get attention!)- they should always be watching for good behaviour and saying "Good dog!" in a squeaky voice if they see you being good - all the time, every day (eg, lying quietly, sitting nicely, waiting nicely, not pulling on the leash, not jumping up, etc, etc) - so then you will REPEAT the good behaviours because you like the squeaky high voice.
Also, your humans should try not to use your names when they are angry with you - because your name should be associated with good things, so that you will always go to them when they call you. So even if they are very angry, they should always try to use the same word eg,"NO!" or "BAD DOG!" in a deep, growly voice.
Sorry for the long comment! Hope this was helpful -
Slobbers,
Honey the Great Dane
ps. I forgot to answer your question about the cost of a clicker: usually, they are very cheap because they are just simple plastic. In NZ, they are about $5-$10 only. But if you order from overseas, I don't know if the P&P will cost more...so maybe try to find one in Indonesia.
ReplyDelete(Do a search online for "clickers" and you will see how much they cost)
Slobbers,
Honey the Great Dane
Hi Hone the Great Dane,
ReplyDeletethank you so much for your explanation and also information about the clicker and how our human should treat us. It's an eye opener for them. We really appreciated it! And please do not feel bad because of the long comment because we love long comments *licks*
All this time, when we behave good or bad, they always use our names. Not so sure whether it's in order to point directly to one of us because there're three of us.
We will find a clicker soon. Hopefully, we can find one in a vet shop near our place. Now, we are getting so excited with the
clicker especially each time when there's a "click" sound from a clicker, it means a treat for us *wiggles*
Thank you!!!
Hi Adele, Bella, Vincent!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the award! Are you guys chewing underwears on the floor? Oh I like that too!
Hugs
